rouseyzinTonight’s the night.  MMA fans are bracing themselves for what could be the most epic fight in women’s UFC history.  Ronda Rousey takes on Cat Zingano at 7 p.m. PT at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.  Both women are undefeated and both women are hungry for the Bantamweight Title.

Rousey is the current champ and is looking to keep it that way. She wants to retire undefeated. She’s the favorite of many and has become the face of women’s MMA. Rousey is an Olympic bronze medalist in judo and has a budding Hollywood acting career appearing in Expendables 3, and the upcoming Furious 7 and Entourage movies.  She was also recently featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Cat Zingano is the underdog but she is no mild pussyCat. Zingano has been thinking about getting in the cage with Rousey for years. The women were supposed to face-off two years ago after Zingano upset Miesha Tate. But a torn ACL and meniscus suffered in training kept the match-up from happening and Zingano had to watch Tate fight the battle she she was supposed to fight. Zingano also has had to deal with another devastating blow after her husband and coach, Mauricio Zingano, committed suicide, leaving her to raise her son alone. She is focused, determined and described as being raw and real. She is an emotional fighter with a lot of heart who has had to overcome a great deal to be standing where she is today. ESPN writer Allison Glock wrote an inspiring article on Zingano illustrating her strength and drive, which just might be enough to rattle Rousey’s cage.  On a side note, she also has her own fitness apparel clothing line, “Alpha Cat,” and holds fitness boot camps for women if you’re looking to get into fighting shape.
